CRW met with Elder M. Russell Ballard on 3-21-13 in his office at 47 East South Temple at 1pm.

Russ had offered to give CRW a blessing because of CRW’s health issues, especially the tumor which was found a year ago located on the outlet of CRW’s pancreas.

At this meeting CRW and Russ talked about the tumor and the current medical treatment of enzymes to deal with that problem. Then, Russ asked about CRW’s life in general and the discussion covered the family problem of MCW’s having told the 6 children that they would have to choose between the two of us parents which then and now puts a burden on the children in that they are not comfortable in being loyal to one or the other parent in front of the other parent. Inasmuch as MCW died 15 years ago the tension is less, but the underlying stress still exists. This discussion with Russ about MCW caused me to consider bringing a subject up with my children which has to do with MCW’s jealousy concerning our relationships with people in our Ward, people in our study groups, the psychiatrists who we counseled with. In all of these cases she saw me as the one these people related most closely with. Could it be that because she was harboring a deep, unacceptable secret that she saw herself as lesser and therefore did not relate as well as I did to these people. As far as our children were concerned, she had to devise a scheme which did not give us equal opportunities to relate to our children (which scheme was to cause tension by not speaking to me during the years of our separation, so she would set up an unfair advantage causing tension to exist whenever we were together in the same room with our children and thus not have to “compete” with me for the love and friendship of the children we have in common).

As far as what will be the relationship in the afterlife, no one knows the answer for sure as to how that will work out. I told Russ that I have faith that somehow things will be worked out over eternity.

Next, CRW told Russ that CRW is worried about ESW’s addiction and her lack of being actively engaged in this life, saying that she has been very involved with scams, so much that it can be labeled as her having an addiction with the scammers. CRW stated that ESW is sleeping a lot during the day, often waking up at 1pm or 2pm with nothing to do except play with the scammers, play word games and send emails to her kids, clean the house and occasionally shop for clothes. She has no friends except Betty Clark who has quit phoning her now that Betty is busy with her mission call.
Russ commented on my medical issue that I am in the best care with Dr. Mark Ott. Regarding ESW’s problems Russ said that he has been involved with a lot of Church members who are suffering from depression, and he thinks that my report on ESW makes him believe that she is suffering from serious depression which may possibly be cured by seeing a psychiatrist and getting the proper medication from the psychiatrist. Russ feels that if the depression is cured, then it will be easier to correct the addiction problem and also a help to getting her into a life with friends and valuable interests and the Church. He said that the Relief Society could be of great help if they knew about her depression. Russ suggested that Dr. Towner or her son, Greg, could recommend a good psychiatrist who could get her going on some medication which would help solve her depression problem.

After we completed our discussion, Russ asked to give me a blessing which I was pleased to receive. In his blessing Russ expressed his love for me and our Heavenly Father’s love for me and blessed me to have good health enough for me to finish the mission I had to perform as a father of 6 children, grandfather and great grandfather which is my main calling in this earth life. Russ blessed me to work on bringing about a solution to ESW’s problems, offering to give ESW a blessing when she had started on a course of treatment. Russ said that a blessing for ESW was not wise until she was on a course of treatment to overcome her present illnesses. He suggested that her illness should be looked upon like a broken leg which might be fixed with proper medical care.

Russ finished the blessing by extending his love and our Heavenly Father’s love to me as a longtime dear friend.
CRW was impressed with the non-judgmental attitude and the great amount of love Russ expressed to me.

CRW and Russ finished the hour long session with a hug and a handshake and the Sigma Chi grip as I left feeling that I had received a wonderful loving expression from a dear friend and an Apostle of the Lord. How thoughtful it was of Russ to set some very special time aside for him to counsel with me and for him to give me such a loving blessing.

• *****Mary Lois Sharp Wheatley died on January 4, 2013.  She had been very ill for several years.  Her husband, Jack, said that he quit bringing her to Church in the17th Ward because she spent most of that time crying and he felt that it was best for her to remain in their home on Bonneville Drive.She had a stroke many years ago (which she always said was a test she needed, and a blessing).  She was a valiant servant of the Lord. At her funeral it was said that her faults were very minor (like being late).

• *****Mary Lynn Clayton Hanson died on January 4, 2013 of pancreatic cancer.  We had visited her at Christmas time and she said the Huntsman Hospital had sent her home with pain pills, saying that they could do nothing for her to sustain her.
• I turned over the Presidency of Latter Day Sigs to Rex Williams and paid him the small balance that was in the bank.
• I became discouraged with my dentist, Allen Thomas who did unprofessional work on me,  I started going to Bradley J. Hair, a friend of the family,
• *****Carl Paulsen died on January 10, 2013.
• Diane Stewart invited me to attend the Sundance showing of “Crash Reel” which was an outstanding movie.
• Book entitle “Falling in Love with Joseph Smith” cam out, authored by Jane who had done much of the documentary work on the HBO movie “The Mormons.
• Wonderful evening at Naoma Tate’s for FUWA fundraiser.  An amazing two story condo she has created on 13th avenue.
• *****Maren Eccles Hardy funeral.  I enjoyed talking to many of my Hardy cousins, especially Ralph,Jr. and David’s children Megan and David, Jr.
• Took a Hafen on consignment from Ceanne Mitchell.k
• ******Alice Moyle Yeates died. Visited with Marie and Jack Ashton, also a good visit with John Bennion and his new wife who is Alice’s daughter.
• CCW speaks at his Stake Conference. Very good sermon.
• UMFA opening of “From Bierstadt to Warhol”, a wonderful exhibit of Indian paintings done by Diane Stewart and Donna Poulton

• Met with Jim Dabakis at State Capitol to strategize on how to get a statewide bill passed on equal rights for LGBT people.
• #######Dan Williams having health issues, mainly getting light headed, even to the extent of fainting.  I am worried about him and recommended Dr. Michael Lowry at Uof U psychiatry to counsel him.
• ######I am now working often with Roger Doxey to get my movies loaded in to my MacBookPro.
• #######Blessing from Russ Ballard 2-25-13.  He gave me full attention in an interview for an hour in his office and then gave me a blessing for my health and also to help ESW with her issues.

• I had 3 colds this winter, including a fever, and was on antibiotics each time which seem to me to be a great blessing to help me get better.
• I had a birthday party for ESW at the Country Club inviting Clarks, Bradshaws, Salisburys, Englands, Carol and Jim Williams. Gave ESW two videos of her siblings, specially labeled for her to see her siblings which have all passed away
• *****Carol Williams died after 24 years with cancer.  A lovely friend and wife of Jim Williams
• Rental rate at Brigham Apartments is $818 per month for the apartment I have rented for the last few years.
• This year the Latter Day Sigs will be meeting on the 2nd Saturday at 3pm because we are getting too old to drive at night.

• *****Leo Thorup died…..wonderful funeral with all his kids speaking (funeral lasted almost 2 hours).I had great visit with Jean, kids and Jim Pingree.
• *****Bea Williams (J. D. Williams’ widow) died.  I took Adele to viewing and to my house to show her old movies and photos of Williams family, followed by dinner at the Country Club with Adele and Doug Worsley.  Adele said “Can I have a Vodka” and I said “Of Course”
• #######Alison Jackson graduated with honors from the UofU.
• *****Richard Christensen died, a friend and former member of our ward and stake presidency.
• On May 7 I had a very hard workout at the UofU orthopedic center. I NEED TO DO MORE OF THOSE KINDS OF WORKOUTS.
• ESW and I met with DRr. C. at Salt Lake Clinic who said that it would be impossible to do back surgery (installing metal) in ESW’s back.
• ESW was VERY ANGRY about my and her kids disapproval about her strong desire to go ahead with Liposuction of her stomach area.
• I had a great visit with my sister, Adele, and my niece, Anne Larsen
• Latter Day Sigs at Rex’s where each of us told about how we got a testimony of the truth of the Gospel.
• I talked with Carl Barton on May 13 who told me that i need to work out something with Tom Alder so that I can compete with him.
• Tom Alder arranged for a Road Show at WFA (similar to Antiques Road Show TV show).
• Dr. Petron ordered an MRI on my spinal column to see if a pinched nerve there might be causing me regular pain in my left leg.  The MRI showed a pinched nerve which caused Dr. Petron to recommend an injection (guided by Xray) in to the area where the pinched nerve is located.  I will plan to have that injection when the pain gets worse.
• ####Every morning I wake up with a very stiff left leg from the knee to and including the left foot.  It is similar to a charlie horse and lasts for about 10 minutes, being relieved as I walk on it carefully.
• SJW does a great job acting in the play Le Cage au Foilles at the Grand Theater.
• ESW has taken two trips to California this winter and spring, staying for 10 days to 2 weeks.  She is now at a point where she needs to travel with someone to take to the flight gates in a wheel chair, because it is too hard for her to walk that distance because of her sore feet.  She also needs someone to attend to her flight plans and schedules, so that she makes the flights on time.
• I have told her sons that I am afraid to leave her home alone, since she is forgetful and could possibly do something harmful if there is no one to check up on her.

•  marry on 6-22-13 in Salt Lake Temple+Grace Williams and Brent Smple with photos followed by wedding breakfast at Lion House with my kids doing their usual funny song (written by Cathy) and later a wedding reception at Wheeler Farm from 6pm to 8pm.  Wonderful day to be with the newly weds and all of the cousins that evening.
• Bud Mahas Sigma Chi luncheon (which he pays for) at Country Club
• I talked with Linda Howard about Deseret Book starting to show some of my art collection to sell. She started by showing my Teichert for $250,000, and Deseret Book agrees to handle that painting for a 10% commission.
• I had 3 lower front teeth pulled by Dr. Hair.
• *****Des Barker died……a good friend and neighbor in Oak Hills Gardens.
• ###########Since Tom Alder is moving Williams Fine Art to 641 East South Temple and has not included me in the deal, I made a deal to rent a room from Werner Weixler for $750 per month starting on July 1st where I will have my desk and chairs and files and will spend my work time with Werner for a few hours every work day and I will hang paintings to sell on the wall of this spacious new office which has a concert grand piano in it.
• May 21, 2013..We held “Great People” study group at our him with Sean Covey as our speaker and Sandra Covey as our guest of honor. It was an outstanding evening with Sean talking about his father’s legacy with quite a few stories about Stephen told by Sean and others in the group. Those attending were Diana Lee, John & Chere Romney, Martha Stockman, Dick &  Kleis Clissold, Gene&Dorothy England, Howard & Betty Clark, Dave&Lois Salisbury, Tim& Mary Ellen Caine, Roger& Jewell Doxey, Kathy & Doug Anderson.  I taped Sean’s talk, so it could be re-heard by Sandra and so Doug Anderson could have it the Hunstman School of Business archives at Utah State Univ.
• *****Sterling Spafford died after being somewhat ill for the past 10 years.
• +++++Annual physical given me by Mark Lewis. He said continue with DR. Ott’s CT scan every 6 months, don’t take enzymes between meals, and sometime take 3 enzymes if eating a very fatty meal, he says as a part of my workout to spring off of my feet to get able to move fast in tennis, he says to build up cardio every day to increase lung capacity, I’m sleeping well 8 to 9 hours per day, regarding my pot belly he says that i have a slight parting of the muscle which exagerates that problem by fat pushing thru past the muscle, also at my age putting on weight goes right to the stomach area.
• Let White Mountain go to highest bidder in tax sale which amounted to about $5000.
• +++++Beverly Sorenson funeral….her kids spoke about the constant security they felt with her and I want my kids to feel that same constant security with me. The story of her life was shown in photos especially arranged to follow her life’s history in pictures, also the grandchildren stood up one by one and sang I am a Child of God, very effective.
• Gay pride parade- SJW did not encourage me to march in it. He is not an activist for Gay causes.
• Kaite is scanning binders full of printed matter for me to put in my MacBookPro.
• Blaine Benard of Holland&Hart gives me talking points to use to discuss what will happen as Tom Alder and I part company in our WFA business
• June 6,2013 Tom Alder says he will think about my settlement proposal and get back to me in a few days.

• *********Met with my 5 kids for Fathers Day to talk about my relationship with each one.  I said I felt totally secure with Cathy, Clayt, and Dan, but I am concerned as to where I stand with Louise, Steve and Florie. Sometimes I feel like I don’t know who those last 3 are.  It seems to me that most often I am wondering if there is a secure love between us.  Also, I asked if they felt a secure love from me.  Florie said that she has never doubted my love and that she feels secure with me.  Louise said that she always has felt that she has to earn my love by doing me favors.  I often feel judged by her and feel that she is proud of her Richards/Covey family line, but not proud or close to the Williams line and doesn’t have any interest in her Williams, Campbell, Winder, Ballif ancestors.  Steve said that he has always felt my support in the fact that he is “different”,  and he appreciates that, but he says that he knows it is hard at this point in his life for me to know who he and how to relate to him, because he is not willing to have anyone define him which I think would make it easier to connect with him.  He does’t want me to be an activist “for him”, and that I should be an activist or not out of my own belief system. I am hoping that those 3 kids and I can find a way to build a more secure love, so that we are not always wondering where we stand with each other.
• A lovely, loving Father’s Day dinner with Dan’s family.
• 6-21-13 Blaine Benard sent me his finalized settlement to give to Tom and his attorney Jeryl Rencher.
• 6-23-13 Had a lovely couple of hours with Steven Tait and Leslie talking at my home talking and showing family photos on my computer.

• +++++Preparing for moving my art office from 200 East South Temple to 132 E Street,  Gave Werner my Frig, a good filing cabinet, 50 or more good art books and 50 copies of “The Heart of Maynard Dixon” book for him me to use as gifts as we sell paintings, sold old Liverpool Clock.
• ++David Glover has been a huge help to me in working with me for 3 days at 100 degree weather making this hard move.
• I keep trying to get Tom to sign the settlement agreement, but he says that his attorney is unavailable and that he is waiting for his approval.
• I took ESW’s kids to the Glen Beck museum tour at Grand America thanks to my good relationship with Brent Ashworth who managed it for Glen.
• 7-6-2013 I had a long meeting with Tom at his new gallery during which he presented me with 7 points which he wants to be the basis for our future relationship with each other.  Those 7 points are the basic ideas for our new relationship but they have conditions which he wants to impose which favor him in the transition period, so that he can give me WFA name back but require me not to really be a full competitor to him. I wrote a letter to Benard telling him that Tom’s 7 points need to be modified so that I can start competing as of 7-6-13 and that I can have a website starting now and that neither Tom nor I have any exclusiveness regarding clients or artists whose works we handle
• +++++++I spent a very fun and relaxing week at Hebgen with Clayt, Denise, Emily, Nick, Grace, Brent, Cathy, Steve Tait, Willy.  We had great fun together at the cabin, on the beach, at the Playmill, also discussing important family issues.
• ******Grant Morris, ward member and friend died on July 13,2013.On July 29, CRW met with Tom Alder to finalize our separation agreement in to 7 points which I sent to my attorney who approved it.  Made a proposal to sell 60 paintings to Gordon Bowen, but the deal fell through. I did a light workout onf July 31.  Sam Anderson’s baptism with wonderful lunch with Louise’s family. **********ESW spant Aug12 trying to send $250,000 to scammers ,rtf but the Chase bank mgr couldn’t do the wire transfer, luckily.  On Aug 16 Tom holding gallery stroll under Alderwood name.  Lot of diahreah and queasy feeling.  Made agreement with David Meikle that Werner and I would be one of his galleries. Failed to sell ptgs to Washatch Advisorss. *****
• ********* CRW had a CT scan at IMC on Aug 23.**************Opening of WFA at 132 E street on Aug 16 with nice crowd responding to invitations sent out. On Aug 24 had a concert evening at Weixlers. **
• ********ESW had important visit to see DR. Parkin  at Salt Lake Clinic, who put her on new mediction to treat depression and dementia. and who will become her internist for the future. 
• ESW writes angry note to CRW scolding him about being messy.
• shortly after our visit with Parkin, ESW got frantic, so I took her to ER at LDS hospital and the Dr. Mathew J. Parsons set up an appointment for ESW to have an MRI on her brain which took place the next day at IMC….results of which were that her brain looked OK…. Set up Word Press website for WFA using Howard’s grandson in law (RaymO).  **
• *******Sept 1st start family seminary at Park Hotel with Cathy arriving a 4pm. Sept 25 family film night at Louises.**************** Gil Warner’s funeral on Sept 16 and workout at U on the same day.  Sept 21 art show for Valoy Eaton at Midway, sold 1 ptg to John Romney/, Steven Tait visits me at gives talk at UofU. ***
• ********* ESW saw Dr. Parkin who said she is suffering from serious depression and beginning Alzheimers.  Work with Tricia Dunn on idea for starting a WFA auction selling one ainting each week. ***
• ********Big day of pulling wisdom tooth and others by Dr. Baldwin on Oct 21. Nov 17 give priesthood lesson.*********Blessing of Henry Kramer at Louises home on Nov 24.  I turned 87 on Dec 3rd. on Dec 18 David Huntsman commissioned David Meikle to paint Camelback  Mountain in Scottsdale and Huntsmena will fly Meikle down to do the job.  ..it will be a 36×48 size and will cost Dec 23rd family  caroling at rest home in Hollaaday.Took min. distribution and paid tithing using it. ******
• ********Cal Gaddis died on 12-23-13, funeral at mortuary.
• ******Jack Coombs died following the death of his wife Margaret a few months before..I went to viewing and met Jack’s children at the mortuary where many from Country Club attended and the event was kind of hosted by Ernie Mariani
