–Left Salt Lake to go in the coast guard and was assigned to government island in bay area

Joined Coast Guard
Join the US Coast Guard in October 1994. My associates who joined with me were Fred Holbrook, Dick Backman and Morrie Jones. The three of us boarded a train from Salt Lake City to San Francisco. Then, we made our way to Government Island which was a small island in the San Francisco bay area. We reported in to the Coast Guard Boot Camp headquarters received on totally new outfit with a duffel bag full of everything we would need to begin our first day of Boot Camp. After receiving our supplies and uniforms we were escorted to the barbershop where they shaved our heads leaving about a half inch of hair which was the rule for newcomers to Boot Camp.
