Hotel Utah

“My friend’s father, Tony Kroos, was the manager of the hotel. He let Tony and me attend the New Year’s eve parties which were held at the Lafayette ballroom. Tony and I would throw confetti all over the attendees from a special balcony. Starting in the 1960s I had attended the Salt Lake Rotary Club meetings every Tuesday which meetings were held in the Lafayette ballroom for many many years. The Hotel Utah was used by many organizations as their regular meeting place. Their food was good and they were famous for their hard rolls. My mother was called upon to decorate large parties for Rotary and for some weddings at the Hotel Utah.”
